Esther Kim and Friends

March 2 – According to Dr. Charles Webb, Dean Emeritus of the prestigious Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, ESTHER KIM, at the tender age of 20,  is “already one of the top young classical concert artists in the world today in violin.”  Her first orchestral solo appearance was at age 8 performing the Mozart Violin Concerto.

Since then, she has performed in major music venues throughout the United States, Europe, and Japan and is a prize winner of several international violin competitions, including theYehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition for Young Violinists and theInternational Competition for Violin and Viola – Bled, Slovenia. At the age of twelve, she was awarded by the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Bronislaw Kaper Awards as “Most Promising Musician”. In March of 2004, the European Union Music Competitions for Youth (EMCY) presented her with the “Art for Music Award”.

Esther Kim and Friends will perform as part of the 2012 Mary C. Rohe Classical Music Series.

 

Elision Sax Quartet

June 29 – The ELISION Saxophone Quartet captivates with power, grace, and elegance during stylistically diverse and virtuosic programs.  The quartet dazzles audiences with an entertaining recipe of classical, Latin, jazz, popular, and world music styles.  The quartetʼs performances of J.S. Bach, Leonard Bernstein, Chick Corea, Astor Piazzolla, and Phil Woods music have in recent seasons become proven audience favorites.  Founded by Robert Medina and Todd Oxford in 1990, ESQ has entertained in virtually every conceivable setting to include concert halls, theaters, music festivals, universities, live radio, and television.

The ELISION Quartet will perform as part of the 2012 Mary C. Rohe Classical Music Series.
