May 26  – Join us for the second annual “Dinner with the Stars” Fundraiser Dinner Saturday, May 26 beginning at 6 p.m. – an evening of food, fun, and fabulous entertainment featuring a delicious dinner catered by Ken Harris and Calvin Abercrombie, silent auction, and your favorite Playhouse 2000 performers in “Another Openin’, Another Show”, a musical revue featuring Jerry Mertz, Maggie Meek, Hayley Pickens, Jeffrey Brown, Kenda Delany, and Kit Werlein.

$75 a person, $130 a couple – first round at wine/beer bar included

$800 table sponsorship – eight guests at a premium placed table, three bottles of wine, and listing among event sponsors

Shakespeare in the Park

A Midsummer Night's Dream, June 1-3

June 1-3 – The City of Kerrville has partnered with local community theater Playhouse 2000 to bring an exciting addition to the summer schedule in Louise Hays Park.  An outdoor performance of Shakespeare’s timeless comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be offered free to the public on June 1st and 2nd at 8:00 each night, with a possible Matinee performance at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 3rd.

Like many great outdoor Shakespeare events, this presentation will be inviting for whole families, who are encouraged to bring a blanket or chairs, share a picnic, and enjoy a timeless classic in a relaxed atmosphere.  This event offers pleasant evening entertainment on the refreshing banks of the Guadalupe River.  The evening shows will conclude by about 9:30 p.m.  No admission will be charged though voluntary contributions will be accepted to help defray costs and encourage further productions in later years.

June 16 -  T.J. Smith will present his “Voices in My Head” tour at 7:30 p.m.  T.J. has been “wowing” audiences with his talents at Rockbox Theater for 5 years. Over 250,000 people have been delighted by TJ’s impressions of over 100 famous Pop and Country singers, comedians, cartoon characters and Politicians.  As a musician, T.J. also impersonates many of pop music’s Guitar Slingers such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Carlos Santana, Jose Feliciano and others.

Featuring 3 fiddles, lots of steel guitar, and Grammy award winning Bobby Flores’ smooth country vocals, this band will keep everyone dancing to their favorite tunes! From Bob Wills to Ray Price to Merle Haggard, this is real country music at it’s finest, performed by some of the best musicians in the country!

 

Elision Sax Quartet

June 29 – The ELISION Saxophone Quartet captivates with power, grace, and elegance during stylistically diverse and virtuosic programs.  The quartet dazzles audiences with an entertaining recipe of classical, Latin, jazz, popular, and world music styles.  The quartetʼs performances of J.S. Bach, Leonard Bernstein, Chick Corea, Astor Piazzolla, and Phil Woods music have in recent seasons become proven audience favorites.  Founded by Robert Medina and Todd Oxford in 1990, ESQ has entertained in virtually every conceivable setting to include concert halls, theaters, music festivals, universities, live radio, and television.

The ELISION Quartet will perform as part of the 2012 Mary C. Rohe Classical Music Series.

Sept 7-22 – At the core of the tragic comedy are the three Magrath sisters, Meg, Babe, and Lenny, who reunite after Babe has “a really bad day”. Past resentments bubble to the surface as each sister is forced to face the consequences of the “crimes of the heart” she has committed. This Pulitzer prize-winning play is an off-beat, funny, and touching look at the true meaning of family and love.

 

 

The Mousetrap

Oct 19-Nov 3 – Mollie and Giles Ralston have no idea that the quaint bed-and-breakfast they have just opened will see one of its first guests murdered! The various characters who have come to stay are joined by one intrepid policeman who braves the raging blizzard to investigate. The audience is urged not to reveal the “twist ending” of this most famous of Agatha Christie’s mysteries.
