August 28, 2016 – Playhouse 2000 is proud to present renowned concert pianist James Dick on Sunday, August 28 at 3 p.m.James Dick

In early 2016, the Cailloux Theater was given a grant from the Kerrville Economic Improvement Corporation to partially defray the expense of completely re-stringing and re-building the action in our lovely, 1960-vintage, American-built Steinway-D Concert Grand Piano.  For the past three months, Austin-based piano technician Ramon Ramirez has been hard at work bringing this amazing instrument back to its original sound.

To celebrate its homecoming, we’ve engaged one of America’s great solo pianists, the founding artistic director of the Round-Top Music Festival and a regular soloist with orchestras around the world, Mr. James Dick.

An official “Steinway Artist,” James Dick has brought to life the works of classical composers for audiences from New York’s Carnegie Hall to Academic Capelle in St. Petersburg, Russia. Dick’s playing melds modern-day energy and technique with an Old World graciousness and civility, resulting in a passionate sound that keeps audiences engrossed.

From his early years as prize winner of some of the world’s most prestigious piano awards to his current successful career as an international guest artist and the founder of a distinguished musical education institute, James Dick is well known to music lovers as a man of great talent, vision and class.  Mr. Dick will perform works for solo piano by Beethoven, Gershwin, Chopin and Ginastera to demonstrate the variety of tone and timbre of which the Steinway-D is capable.
